COLUMBIA Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team drops a hard fought battle against No. 14-ranked Bethel (Ind.) 3-2 on Friday night.
The Pilots opened up the scoring off a corner kick headed home by Gabriel Pacheco in the 18th minute. Sadam Masereka leveled the score just one minute later after a ball played on by Alexander Koziolek, which found Masereka one on one with the goalkeeper who then chipped it home.
Bethel took the lead back in the 36th minute when Pablo Costa made a save falling right to a waiting Pilot, who squared it off to Luan Bressy, tapping it into the open net.
Blue Raiders' Jean Wikes equalized the game after Sadam Masereka broke in from the midfield with pace, playing it to Wikes at the 18 yard box who then finished it over the keeper.
A costly foul in the box by Pablo Costa led to a Bethel penalty kick with Andre Sabino stepping up and slotting it in the left corner, tallying him one goal and two assists on the game.
The Pilots outshot the Blue Raiders 17-10 while also being outshot on goal 8-5.
The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team will be back in action when they open up conference play on the road against Tennessee Southern on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. CT.
