Minifie Garners First Career All-American Finish; Women Remain in Twelfth After Day Three

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team held steady in 12th place following the conclusion of day three of the NAIA National Championships. The Blue Raiders also secured their first All-American accolade of the week, as Jordyn Minifie shined in the 400-yard individual medley.

The junior began the day by topping the school record in the event with a time of 4:35.16 in the prelims. Then, during the evening session, she trimmed an additional 0.93 seconds en route to a seventh-place finish and her first-career All-American honor.

Also competing for Lindsey Wilson during the latter session of the day were Sara Motyl and Azalia Gabdrakipova. The duo qualified for the "B" final of their respective events, with Motyl posting a mark of 1:07.49 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Gabdrakipova turning in a time of 58.48 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Elsewhere for the locals, Allie Rutherford and Natascha Evrinoff swam times of 58.32 and 59.42 in the preliminary round of the 100-yard butterfly, and the grouping of Gabdrakipova, Motyl, Rutherford, and Evrinoff fell in just one spot shy of snatching All-American status in the 400-yard medley relay, closing with a mark of 3:56.74.

The final day of competition begins on Saturday morning with the preliminary rounds at 8 a.m. CST, then concludes at 4 p.m. CST with the finals.

Lindsey Wilson is scheduled to swim the 200-yard backstroke (Gabdrakipova), 100-yard freestyle (Evrinoff), 200-yard breaststroke (Motyl), 200-yard butterfly (Rutherford and Minifie), and 400-yard freestyle relay.
