Baseball falls in series finale to Campbellsville
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson baseball dropped the series finale to Campbellsville (Ky.) today 11-3 at Egnew Park.
Campbellsville (7-7, 6-5 in the Mid-South Conference) pounded out 16 hits to take the weekend series from the Blue Raiders 2-1. The two teams split yesterday.
Trailing 3-0, Lindsey Wilson (9-13, 6-6) scored its first run of the game as Ty Menrath -- who reached base after being hit by a pitch -- scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the third.
Campbellsville -- who scored in five straight innings -- pushed the lead to 6-1 heading into the home half of the fourth. Seth Price singled and later scored on Brandon Adams' RBI single in the fourth to pull within 6-2. Price led the Blue Raider offense with two of the team's eight hits.
The Tigers scored five straight runs before Henry Paulino hit his team-leading seventh home run in the bottom of the ninth to cap the scoring at 11-3.
Andy Rosales suffered the loss allowing six runs -- but only two earned due to three LWC errors -- on five hits in 3-1/3 innings.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 23, as the Blue Raiders travel to Bresica (Ky.) in Owensboro, Ky.
