Baseball Hosts Campbellsville for Highway Battle

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville have met 110 times on the baseball field. These two squads are set to meet three more times this weekend as the Battle of Highway 55 takes place at Egnew Park. The cross-town rivals will open the conference series with a doubleheader on Thursday starting at 1 p.m. CT, before facing off in a single game on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT.

Lindsey Wilson (14-13, 6-8 MSC) is coming off a loss in a midweek contest at IU-Southeast on Wednesday. In that matchup, Henry Paulino went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Chance Stayton and Jaden Cockerel each totaled two hits and two RBIs.

Stayton has a team-leading 35 hits and 29 RBIs on the season, while Jordan Blick has a team-leading eight home runs.

On the mound, Cohen Achen leads the Blue Raider pitching staff in wins (5), innings pitched (47.0), and strikeouts (76). Achen is currently ranked first in the Mid-South and fourth in the NAIA in strikeouts. 

Campbellsville (15-14, 9-6 MSC) last saw action at home, dropping a conference series to Freed-Hardeman. The Tigers earned a commanding 8-1 victory in game two and suffered close defeats in games one and three. Lucas Banta led the Tigers in hits (4) and RBIs (4) against the Lions. Garrett Maloney earned the only win in the series, giving up five hits, one run, no walks, and recording six strikeouts.

On the season, Noah Amenta leads the Tigers in hits (34) and Henry Wright leads the squad in RBIs (27). Maloney leads the pitching staff in wins (3) and innings pitched (32.1).

The Blue Raiders look to defeat the Tigers for the first time since 2021.

First pitch in Egnew Park is set for 1 p.m. CT on Thursday.
