Trio of Cheerleaders Named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for 2023

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Three student-athlete members of the Lindsey Wilson cheer team have been named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2023 season, national officials announced on Wednesday afternoon.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

Athena Coman, Haley Garmon, and Emma Hyer each earned the honor.

In total, 217 scholar-athletes were named this season. Fellow Mid-South Conference institution Georgetown College (Ky.) led the country with nine selections.
