Cycling rolls at Home Mountain Bike Race

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson cycling team competed at the Blue Raider Mountain Bike Race over the weekend where a host of LWC cyclists made their way to the podium.

The Lindsey Wilson women swept the podium during the "A" dual slalom as Emily Harris, Sumi Yuki and Korie Gilbert raced their ways to the top three spots. Tessa Greep also competed in the event, just missing out on the top-5 in sixth place.

Amani Vigil claimed second place in the men's "A" dual slalom while Brendan Young claimed fourth and Mateo Marasass finished fifth to round out the top 5. Connor Terblanche and Keegan Tibbitts finished first and second during the "B" race while Sawyer Holly claimed fifth place in the race. Malaki Caldwell finished first in the "C" dual slalom.

Zach Fernau claimed third place during the "A" men's short track cross country race as Lucas Poupard finished in 17th place. Jean Blignaut competed in the "B" race where he finished in sixth place as Foster Bloch took 19th.

In the women's "A" short track cross country race, Samantha Maldonado crossed the line in 23rd while Harris posted a 26th place finish. Greep claimed 11th place in the women's "A" cross country while Fernau took fourth on the men's side.

Harris took second in the women's "A" downhill as Yuki finished in fifth and Greep and Gilbert claimed ninth and 11th, respectively. Marasas claimed the highest finish on the men's side, claiming 13th as Amani Vigil and Young finished in 19th and 20th place.

The pairing of Fernau, Poupard, Greep and Sami Maldonado claimed fourth place during the team relay event.

Cycling is back in action this weekend when they compete at the Lees McRae Mountain Bike race in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
