Marasas Wins Two National Championships at USA Cycling Collegiate Track Championships

BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. - Mateo Marasas captured two championships at the USA Cycling Collegiate Track Championships.

Marasas took gold in the men's sprint and the men's time trial to lead the Blue Raiders. He started the sprint competition defeating Colorado Mesa's Luke Elphingstone in the first round. Marasas then defeated Colorado Mesa's Sindre Brein before defeating Southern Illinois Alex Bolotin in the semifinals. In the semifinals, he advanced to the finals after defeating Marian's Jonah Hover. Marasas then defeated Noah Mandow to win the gold medal. He then won gold in the men's kilo time trial with a time of 1:07.145.

As a team, the Blue Raiders finished eighth in the all around team standings. Lindsey Wilson earned 442 points. Marian won the team title with 976 points while Milligan finished runner-up with 911 points.

Pedro Pussieldi also qualified in the men's sprint after finishing 10th in qualifying. Pussieldi defeated Marian's Carter Kasianowicz in the first round. He then fell to Hover in the next round. Pussieldi then finished second in his heat of the 1/8 final repechage to race for 9th-12th place. He ended up finishing in 11th.

Madison Jackson finished 34th in the women's sprint qualifying while Jacob Kuper was 34th in men's sprint qualifying. In the men's pursuit final, Lucas Poupard finished 19th with a time of 4:56.008 while Kuper was 33rd with a time of 5:12.113.

Jackson finished 35th in the women's time trial with a time of 44.851. Kuper and Marasas advanced to the minor final of the men's scratch race. In the minor final, Kuper finished sixth while Marasas finished 16th. Pussieldi finished 15th in the men's time trial while Kuper was 23rd in the men's points race.

The Blue Raiders finished eighth in the co-ed team sprint.
