COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team came up short 85-71 in its season opener at Biggers Sports Center against Brescia (Ky.) on Monday night.
Brescia closed the first half on a 22-1 run over the final seven minutes. The scoring drought from the Blue Raiders proved to be too much to overcome during the second half.
Lindsey Wilson finished the game with four players in double figures in scoring, including Elijah Jordan who shot 7-8 from the field en route to a team high 18 points.
The opening minutes were competitive as both sides traded baskets to start. At the 7:04 mark the Blue Raiders took their largest lead of the game up 33-26. From that point, however, the Bearcats found their rhythm and took control, ultimately taking a 48-34 lead at the half.
Despite playing neck and neck the entire second half, LWC could not manage to claw themselves back into the contest and never cut the deficit under 10 points. Brescia's largest lead of the game was 18 and outscored Lindsey Wilson 44-32 in the paint. Neven Graves led the WIldcats in scoring with a game high of 20.
Mark Edmond finished the game with 11 points and led the Blue Raiders in rebounds with eight. Rodney Lewis had a team high of five assists.
