MEN'S BASKETBALL PICKS UP FIRST WIN OF SEASON; DEFEAT BAPTIST BIBLE

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team willed their way to their first win of the season in a 79-75 victory over Baptist Bible (Mo.) during the Brady Button Memorial Classic. Despite the close nature of the contest, Lindsey Wilson never trailed in the game.

Elijah Jordan finished the game with a career-high 26 points. He finished the game 8-of-10 from the floor and a perfect 9-of-9 at the charity stripe. Jamyus Jones and Rodney Lewis also managed double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively. Jones added a team-high eight boards to just miss out on a double-double while Lewis added a team-high five assists.

Lindsey Wilson opened the contest to an 8-2 lead as their defensive effort led to five Baptist Bible turnovers over the opening four minutes. The Patriots clawed their way back eventually leveling the score at 13-13 with 12:12 remaining.

The Blue Raiders strung together a 13-2 scoring spurt to push their lead to 26-15. The 11-point advantage was LWC's largest of the half and came with just over eight minutes to play.

Baptist Bible trimmed the Lindsey Wilson lead down to four points four times over the final minutes of the half, the final time coming at 40-36 with 2:03 to play. LWC closed the half on a 6-3 run to take a seven-point, 46-39 lead into the break.

The Patriots stayed in the game despite 15 first-half turnovers thanks to lights-out shooting, knocking down 60 percent of their attempts including a 6-of-10 mark from three. Lindsey Wilson went 15-of-31 from the floor in the half.

Lindsey Wilson opened the second half building their second 11-point lead of the night at 54-43 with 17:26 to play. Baptist Bible bounced back with eight straight points to trim the LWC lead down to three points at 56-53 with 15:42 to play.

The Blue Raiders maintained their single-digit lead before taking a seven-point lead at 76-69 with just under eight minutes to play. Baptist Bible then scored six straight points to cut the LWC lead down to just one point at 76-75.

Lindsey Wilson finished the contest on an 11-6 run to ultimately take the contest 87-81.

Nick Coble led all scorers with 31 points for the Patriots.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the court for their final contest of the Brady Button Memorial Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
