Men’s Basketball Falls to Saint Francis on Final Day of Brady Button Memorial Classic
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team closed out the Brady Button Memorial Classic on Saturday falling to Saint Francis (Ind.) 97-87 at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (1-1) were led by Kenyata Carbon who scored 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting and going 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. Issac Weaver and Johrdon Mumford were also in double figures with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Lucas Ribeiro grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
The two teams got off to a slow start as it took over two and a half minutes for either team to score. Lindsey Wilson and Saint Francis (2-0) then traded points as it was tied at 11 with 14:58 to play in the first half. The Cougars then went on a 5-0 run before the Blue Raiders answered with a 5-0 run of their own to tie the game at 16 with 12:29 to play in the half.
Saint Francis took a 20-16 lead before Lindsey Wilson went on a quick 5-0 run to lead 21-20. The Cougars took a 27-23 lead after a 7-2 run. Lindsey Wilson would go on to score six of the next eight points to tie the game at 29 with 5:24 to play in the half. Following a Saint Francis basket, the Blue Raider put together an 8-2 run to lead 37-33. The two teams exchanged points for the remainder of half as the Blue Raiders lead 41-38 going into the locker room.
The Cougars opened the second half on a 6-0 run before an Isaac Weaver three tied the game at 44. With the game tied at 51, Lindsey Wilson used a 6-2 run to take a 57-53 lead with 13:34 to remaining. The Blue Raiders had taken a 68-65 lead with 9:53 remaining before Saint Francis went on a 12-0 run to lead 77-68 with 7:34 to play.
Down 82-72, the Blue Raiders went on a 7-1 run to trim their deficit to 83-79 with 4:09 left. Following a Cougar three to push their lead to seven, Lindsey Wilson got it back to a three point game at 86-83 with 2:37 to play. Saint Francis ended the game on an 11-4 run.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on November, 4 when they host Voorhees at Biggers Sports Center.
