Another Strong Start Paces Men's Basketball to Classic Win over Harris-Stowe

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Blue Raider men's basketball team won for the fourth time in five games on Friday afternoon, defeating Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) 84-62 to open the Campbellsville Thanksgiving Classic.

Lindsey Wilson was lights out from the field throughout the first half, shooting 71.4 percent and 9-of-14 on three-pointers to help build a 32-point halftime lead. Then, despite the Hornets outscoring the Blue Raiders in the final 20 minutes, the initial onslaught was more than enough to bring Lindsey Wilson back to .500 on the season.

Matt Khoury recorded all of his game-high 17 points in the first half to pace a foursome of double-digit scorers for the Blue Raiders. The junior knocked down five shots from behind the three-point line for the first time since hitting seven in the season-opener.

The Hornets got out to an early 3-2 lead after 1:44, but back-to-back three-pointers by Connor Robinson sparked a 21-7 Lindsey Wilson run over a six-minute span to give the Blue Raiders a double-figure advantage. During that stretch, the designated home team was 5-for-6 from three-point territory and 4-for-4 from the foul line. Meanwhile, Harris-Stowe converted on just 7-of-29 from the field and closed the half shooting 24.1 percent.

Lindsey Wilson attempted the same number of field goals in the second half as it did in the first. However, this time only connected on 39.3 percent. Nevertheless, the Blue Raiders kept the Hornets in their rearview mirror and held on for their fifth consecutive victory in the Thanksgiving Classic.

Barrett Burchyett scored in double-digits for a second straight game with 13 points, followed by Robinson and Kenyata Carbon with 11 and 10, respectively.

Jayden Lazard led the Blue Raiders on the boards with six rebounds and dished out a team-high seven assists.

Lindsey Wilson returns to Powell Athletic Center at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday to take on Simmons College of Kentucky.
