COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team played a spirited game against the defending national champions, but ultimately finished knotted at 3 on Saturday night.
In what was an evenly played match, Lindsey Wilson managed to outshoot the Seahawks 18-13, while both clubs had six shots on goal.
The scoring opened up in the 6th minute after Sadam Masereka broke past the back line and crossed it in to Monwabisi Mngqibisa who put it home. After a costly yellow card, three minutes later Keiser's Adrian Camacho answered right back with a free kick from right outside the penalty area. Masereka answered quickly for the Blue Raiders, taking the lead from the Seahawks after netting a 14th minute goal.
Keiser responded with a goal from Lucas Jacobs assisted by Rui Reis to equalize the game before the half.
In the second half, Rui Reis found himself with a one on one against Pablo Costa netting it home for the Seahawks, taking back the lead.
Not to be deterred, Adam gets a run down the right wing with a powerful cross into the box, finding the foot of Bienfait Ishimwe who then tied the game up at 3-3 in the 65th minute.
Late in the game, the senior defender then saved the match after standing in the net and blocking a Keiser shot after beating the keeper.
The Blue Raiders now have a quick turnaround against Lyon University in Columbia on Monday, September 12th at the newly named Ray Wells field at Walter S. Reuling Stadium at 5:00 p.m. CT.
