Men’s Soccer Hosts Cumberland
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 5 ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team welcomes Cumberland (Tenn.) for a Mid-South Conference matchup Wednesday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium/Ray Wells Field at 7 p.m. CT.
The Blue Raiders (9-2-1, 3-0 MSC) enter tonight's matchup having won their last four. Lindsey Wilson is coming off a 2-1 victory over Campbellsville back on Oct. 11. Fabio De Paula's goal in the 86th minute propelled the Blue Raiders to the victory. Michael Acquah also added a goal in the victory.
In conference play, Lindsey Wilson has allowed just one goal while recording a pair of shutouts. Offensively, the Blue Raiders have scored six goals in their conference matchups so far this season. Sebastian Tregarthen leads Lindsey Wilson with eight goals while Acquah has scored six. Felix Poschmann leads the Blue Raiders with six assists while Pablo Costa has recorded 40 saves and five shutouts.
Cumberland (8-4-1, 2-1 MSC) is also on a four-game winning streak. In their last game back on Oct. 8, the Phoenix defeated Delta State 5-0. John Azar and Philipp Schmidtke each scored two goals while Marcos Perez added one. Azar and Schmidtke lead the Phoenix with five goals apiece. In goal, Jack McCarthy has recorded 25 saves and has posted six shutouts.
Wednesday's matchup will be the 22nd meeting between the two schools. Lindsey Wilson owns a 14-7 record against Cumberland. The two teams played twice in 2022 with Cumberland winning the regular season matchup. The Blue Raiders and Phoenix would matchup again in the MSC Tournament Quarterfinals with Lindsey Wilson picking up a 3-0 victory.
