Women's basketball stumbles at Campbellsville in top-20 clash

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's basketball committed 26 turnovers and was outrebounded by 16 in a 78-58 loss at No. 1-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.) tonight at the Powell Athletic Center.
The 26 miscues tied a season-high for the 16th-ranked Blue Raiders (15-4, 10-4 in the Mid-South Conference) leading to 30 Campbellsville points. The Lady Tigers (12-1, 8-1) rebounding advantage led to the hosts attempting 26 more shots in the game.
The deficiencies proved too much to overcome tonight for the Blue Raiders despite a good start and shooting better from the field (44 percent to 38 percent) than their rivals.
Lindsey Wilson opened the game with a strong first quarter. The Blue Raiders shot nearly 60 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes to build an early seven-point lead. Lindsey Wilson led 21-18 at the end of the quarter.
The Lady Tigers reclaimed the lead in the first two minutes of the second quarter and methodically built a lead resulting in a 44-30 halftime advantage.
The Blue Raiders cut the deficit to 10 points on two different occasions in the third quarter but failed to get in closer in the second half. Campbellsville used a 16-6 run midway through the third period to extend the lead to 20.
Reagan Turner led three Blue Raiders in double digits with 21 points. It marks the 11th time this season and seventh straight where she has posted at least 20 points in a game. Sydnie Hall and Rose Mary Jackson each scored 10 in the loss. Sammy Rogers led Campbellsville with 16 points.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 6, as the Blue Raiders host Georgetown (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center.
