Alice Lloyd Clips Women's Basketball on the Road

PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team fell behind late in the fourth quarter on Friday evening against Alice Lloyd, and the homestanding Eagles kept their composure from the foul line to stay in front and hold on for an 85-79 decision.

The hosts finished the game 20-for-22 from the charity stripe, including a stretch of eight consecutive makes over the final three minutes of regulation during a 17-9 run. The Blue Raiders, on the other hand, won the turnover battle but were outmuscled on the glass 45-29, which led to 22 second-chance points for the Eagles.

Lucy Patterson had 13 points and eight rebounds in the second half, helping her to a team-leading 18 points and 13 rebounds on the day and her first double-double of the season. She also led the Blue Raiders with four assists, two steals, and two blocks. The junior's efforts paced four double-digit scorers for Lindsey Wilson, including Amelia Hodges, Jordyn Stephens, and Syndie Hall with 15, 14, and 13, respectively.

Alice Lloyd snatched the first lead of the contest behind a 4-1 start. Lindsey Wilson surged back, and the two sides proceeded to exchange buckets until the Blue Raiders found themselves with a 33-31 edge after 20 minutes.

A 7-0 rally by the visitors to open the second half featured help from Hodges, Patterson, and a three-point basket by Hall. The Eagles eventually got on the scoreboard and cut the deficit to a single point, but Lindsey Wilson maintained its lead heading into the final quarter.

Another three-pointer from Hall put the Blue Raiders ahead 58-48 less than 20 seconds into the fourth frame. The Eagles then responded with a 12-2 run to tie the game at 60-60, then ultimately pulled away despite Lindsey Wilson knocking down a pair of last-minute three-pointers.

As a team, the Blue Raiders were narrowly outshot 46.2 to 44.4 percent from the floor but did best Alice Lloyd from behind the arc, 31.6 to 27.8 percent.

Lindsey Wilson will see the Eagles again at 6 p.m. CST on December 29 in Columbia. The Blue Raiders' next contest, however, is a 3 p.m. CST match-up at Midway University on November 25.
