WOMEN'S BOWLING TRIO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE; MELSON TABBED CHAMPION OF CHARACTER
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Mid-South Conference revealed its 2023 All-Academic and Champions of Character Teams for women's bowling on Tuesday morning.
In order to be nominated by an institution for academic all-conference, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must be in their third term or fourth quarter.
For the second-straight season, Haven Crawford, Tara Manis, and Jacqueline Oliphant were selected to represent Lindsey Wilson as Academic All-Mid-South honorees. The accolade is the third-career for both Crawford and Oliphant, while Manis picks up her second.
The University of Pikeville (Ky.) led all league institutions with 10 recipients, followed by Bethel (Tenn.) with seven and Thomas More with six.
The Mid-South also announced freshman Makayla Melson to the Champions of Characters Team.
The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
Melson is now the fourth different women's bowling in Lindsey Wilson's history to garner Champions of Character status.
