Women's Swimming Opens NAIA National Championships in Tenth
COLUMBUS, Ga. – After day one of the 2023 NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships, the Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team sits in 10th place with 30 total team points.
The Blue Raiders began the shortest day of the competition with a ninth-place effort of 1:48.47 in the 200-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Azalia Gabdrakipova, Sara Motyl, Natascha Evrinoff, and Jordyn Minifie trimmed 0.23 seconds off their event entry time.
Then, in the 800-meter freestyle relay, Gabdrakipova, Evrinoff, Minifie, and Alejandra Martinez improved a whole 4.83 seconds from their seeded time en route to an 11th-place finish – 7:55.62.
Three events await the Blue Raiders on Thursday, including the 500-yard freestyle (Evrinoff and Martinez), 200-yard individual medley (Gabdrakipova, Minifie, and Allie Rutherford), and 200-yard freestyle relay.
The second days begins with the preliminary rounds of each event at 8 a.m. CST, then concludes with the finals at 4 p.m. CST.
