Track & Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season at Mountaineer Open

Columbia, Ky – Lindsey Wilson men and women's track & field teams are set to compete in the Mountaineer Open this weekend to jump start its 2022-23 outdoor season at Berea College Track in Berea, Ky. The Open will begin on Friday, March 24th at 8:30 a.m. CT and conclude on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders are coming off an indoor season where eight competitors reached the NAIA National Championship in Brookings, S.D. Three members of the women's team competed in Meredith Johnson, Nikki Ravelli, and Luna Senica as Justin Borden, Jace Cowman, Nolan Foushee, Jelle Golbach, and Edwin Van Wyk represented the men's side.

Johnson posted a time of 10:48.69 in the 3,000-meter race as Senica and Ravelli finished with leaps of 5.49 and 5.33 meters in the long jump, respectively. 

For the men, Cowman earned a time of 18:53.69 in the 3,000-meter race walk where he finished in 14th place. Foushee crossed the line in the 600-meter dash in 18th place at 1:22.93 and Edwin Van Wyk ran a 22.00 in the 200-meter dash.

Golbach finished 20th in the high jump after clearing 1.96 meters, while Borden leaped a distance of 6.66 meters in the long jump.
